Kuakata – Visiting the Daughter of the Sea
Kuakata, locally known as Sagar Kannya or Daughter of the Sea is a scenic beauty-spot in southern Bangladesh. The name Kuakata originated from the kua-wells dug on the seashore for collecting drinking water by the early Rakhine settlers of Arakan descent. Kuakata’s unique combination of pristine sandy beaches bordered by the Bay of Bengal, patches of mangrove trees withstanding the perpetual forces of the tides and the ethnic diversity most prominently visible during the annual religious festivals and pilgrimages make this special place worth exploring.
Itinerary
Itinerary – 4 Nights / 3 Days
Leave Dhaka by non a/c coach from Fakirapool bus stand for the 12 hour overnight journey to Kuakata.
Reach Kuakata in the morning. Upon arrival check-in at hotel and freshen up. After a little rest take a local rickshaw van to Misripara, about 45 minute from Kuakata. Visit the 35 ft tall Buddha statue and the Rakhine community in the area.Return to Kuakata for lunch. The afternoon free at your leisure. You are welcome to enjoy the beach, and definitely shouldn’t miss the famous sunset. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
After breakfast explore interesting spots along the beach, including Crab Island (Kakra Dweep) or Lemon Island (Lebu-r-char). Many of these estuarine areas are covered with intriguing mangrove growth, reminding visitors of the nearby Sundarban forest. This approximately two hour excursion will be organized on locally available motorcycles Afternoon free at leisure. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
After breakfast check-out from hotel and board morning bus back to Dhaka. You will reach Dhaka in the late afternoon
